What is this?

A weekly report on the oil market. I cover what’s driving price, where positioning sits, what the macro backdrop looks like, and where the trade opportunities are. No filler. No newsletter fluff. Just the stuff that matters if you’re trying to stay on the right side of crude.

Who reads this?

A mix. Traders, fund managers, energy analysts, risk desks. There are subscribers at OPEC, Exxon, Shell, Glencore, Vitol, Trifigura, Citi, Morgan Stanley, and Schonfeld on the list among many oil drilling and services companies. There are also independent traders and people who just want to understand oil markets properly without wading through noise. Both are welcome.

Free vs paid - what’s the difference?

The free report gives you my macro view - the geopolitics, the narrative, the big picture. A lot of people read it just for that.

The paid report is where the work is. Proprietary COT analysis from our in-house tool, trade levels and scenarios, calendar spread structure, the shut-in tracker, and video briefings. If you trade oil, hedge energy exposure, or allocate around commodities - that’s the part you need.

Who am I?

Tim Duggan. 20+ years in markets. Started trading tech stocks after the dot-com crash, moved into futures, ended up in oil. Traded at Geneva Trading and Genesis Capital before going to Amplify Trading in London where I was a senior prop trader and mentor. Now I run Duggan Capital out of Ireland- discretionary oil and gas futures and calendar.

Before I traded full-time, I spent a time in oil and gas tech - drilling software, upstream investment, business development. I have written papers for The Society of Petroleum Engineers and industry publications. I know the upstream side as well as the price side. That matters when you’re trying to figure out what’s real and what’s noise in energy markets.

The report is produced in partnership with Newsquawk - paid subscribers get discounts on their terminal.
